Let’s face it, we are now living in a time when the majority of us are making short-term decisions to scale back our spending. This week, a customer shopping at our Pearl Street store told me she could only afford one new shoe this season, and she asked for my advice. Helping her make a decision was a breeze, because there is definitely one summer shoe we should all refresh every couple years. And that shoe is the “little black sandal” which I consider to be the shoe equivalent of the “little black dress.” It is a seasonal shoe that every woman should have in her closet, and it is the perfect rescue option when you don’t know what else to put on your feet. Regardless of the outfit, you can rest assured that when wearing a black sandal you are not unwittingly making a fashion mistake. There are many types, shapes and sizes of the “little black sandal," but if you want one that will stand the test of time, please make sure it’s simple, comfortable and classic.
Fortunately, we have a number of options at ShoeFly which fit these important criteria:
Vagabond TIA. The Vagabond Tia is currently my favorite no frills, classic, delicate, black sandal. This minimalistic look pairs with any type of outfit from casual to dressy and makes a statement without being flashy. Retailing for $110, this all leather sandal is one that will be in your closet for years to come.
Olukai Upena. The arch support in Olukai sandals makes it a standout in our store and a “go to” for people looking for a simple yet structured sandal. This sandal is as good for daytime as it is for night and at a retail price of $90, it won’t break the bank.
Dr. Marten’s Voss. And for our younger customers, I always suggest the Voss sandal from Dr. Martens, which is funky, yet classic. This edgy look can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion, and at a price of $100 you only have to babysit a few times to be able to add this to your closet!
